Projecting the Twins: J.J. Hardy

J.J. Hardy is the ultimate wildcard on this team. He had an abysmal season last year, causing the Brewers to trade him for Carlos Gomez. He shouldn’t be as bad as looked last year, but he shouldn’t be expected to be as good as he was in 2007 and 2008. Hopefully he just needs a change of scenery.

I hope I’m wrong too, but I just don’t see it.

What scares me the most is why Hardy was traded for Gomez in the first place. Maybe Brewers GM Doug Melvin knows something about him that we don’t know. Let’s be honest it would not be very hard to fool GM Bill Smith just look at the Santana trade. I believe the trade will most likely turn out to be a very positive one but you just never know.

I believe the Brewers needed to trade Hardy because Alcides Escobar was ready. Gomez was the most they could get for Hardy.
